Productive Day in Chicago

I arrived in Chicago earlier today and gave what I believe was a well received keynote at Telephony Magazine's VoIP for Service Providers conference.

I've spent the past little bit of time finishing my talk for tomorrow morning for our SIP Summit 2004.

SIP Summit 2004 turned into a pretty cool event. The delegates are from 18 countries, representing 155+ companies and 200+ people are attending.

I'm looking forward to being at the SIP Summit tomorrow and having the time to walk around the Supercomm show floor and check out SIPop! 2004.

Just read your article on THE RISE OF THE BROADBAND PARASITES. So you reckon the NEXT BIG THING will be a bunch of VoIP operators making revenue by selling minutes over the Internet as opposed to the old world where a bunch of telcos made revenue by selling minutes on the PSTN? Surely such a far fetched thing will never happen! It's just like forecasting that record companies will make even more money by selling CDs now that PC's are equipped with CD players and everyone has one. Don't you think that peer-to-peer telephony will blow away the operators just like Kazaa is blowing away the record companies? Why should I still pay an operator when I already pay an ISP???
