VOIP *may* drive broadband sales in future, although I doubt that is the case now. What is driving broadband sales now, in my opinion, is bulk data transfers.
One doesn't purchase broadband just to collect one's email more rapidly; one pays for the higher speed to exchange files, e.g. via bitorrent. I recall having read estimates that bittorrent traffic may be responsible for as much as one-third of total net traffic (q.v. Cachelogic).

Thanks for making this available to those of us unable to make it to VON Canada.
Slide 10 has a very provocative claim: "VoIP is driving broadband sales." Is there data to substantiate this claim? What percentage of new broadband subscribers are purchasing broadband to enable them to do VoIP?
A Parks Associates report http://www.parksassociates.com/research/reports/tocs/2004/voip.htm claims only 2% of Broadband homes have VoIP - how many non-Broadband homes want VoIP and go out and buy broadband to get it?
