2006 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Announced:
During the past few years I've been a supporter of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and have been fortunate to have a seat at the induction ceremonies at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies in New York City. ( 2005, 2004 pictures )
Each of these events are totally surrealistic for most people who don't have relatives who are insiders of the music industry. This has become one of the annual events I always look forward to being a part of.
Congratulations go out to the artists, their families and the fans of the artists who will be inducted in the Class of 2006: Blondie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Miles Davis and the Sex Pistols as well as Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, the founders of A&M Records.

Jethroe Tull had the most sophisticated sound whether you were staright or stoned. Listen to Agualong and songs such as Mother Goose, Locotive Breath, etc. will knock your socks and shoes off. Thick As a Brick is a rock opera. Going up the Pool and Skating Away and Songs From the Wood are masterpieces that just go along with dozens of their other songs.

Mellencamp is America's rock. Groups that I think should get in are Jethroe Tull, Doobie Brothers,
Chicago, Yes (Yes album alone), Moody Blues, Carole King as writer and performer, R.E.M., the Cars, and remember how the Dave Clark Five gave the Beatles some solid competition despite the Beatles' head start and greatness.

Chicago deserves to be in.
As does:
Hall & Oates (best selling duo of all-time)
Doobie Brothers
Three Dog Night
Dire Straits
ELO

Actually Bonnie Raitt was inducted in 2000. I have raised my eyebrows at some of the ommissions too though, like Chicago and the Commodores. Quincy Jones produced the biggest album ever, explain his ommission. I don't have a problem with Madonna going in though,in fact she and Janet Jackson will probably go in next year.

Jethro Tull?, How about Todd Rundgren or the NY Dolls and The MC5, How about Cheap Trick or Heart? All are 25+. What about REM? Singlehandedly created a genre of music that U2 rode the coatails of and got in before them??How about Peter Frampton-Bestselling live album in the history of Rock Music?Van Halen? where are they? Let's face it, It's by personal choice of RARHOF board members to put in a band like Black sabbath this year-C'mon-They have NOT recorded a viable LP since 1975, The remainder of their career was so scattered, they could not even keep a lead singer for more than 1 Lp(for over 20 years mind you they only released 5 lp's since 1980??!?!?. But the Hall of Fame forgets all about Alice Cooper, who STILL to this day has a incredibly sucessful recording and touring career. Please, I cannot support the hall of fame seeing they put U2 in the hall of fame before The Clash!!!! The Clash are precisley who u2 wanted to be anyway-It's a joke-Frank Zappa only got in after he died-Yet at the time he was 10 years overdue to be awarded to get at least a nomination-That man did more for Rock music and personal & musical freedom than ANYONE in the entire hall of fame. What a scam!I completely agree with the fact that Jethro Tull has and most likely will ALWAYS be overlooked, which is an obvious error in judgemnt on behalf of the fools at the rock and roll hall of fame. Now before I get going on another rant, I am now hearing rumours, which I hope to God are, Madonna is eligable? That's right i am hearing Madonna, why? because her first Lp came out in 1981? All the hall of fame seems to do now is just place Anyone who THEY think should be in. Also, where's Bonnie Raitt? She is most likely the BEST female blues guitarist out there, and was ignored from 1970 to 1990 until Nick of Time was released. I may be wrong, but she's not listed, and neither is Ted Nugent. But let's pamper Madonna and Bono. Hey Prince is eligable, let's throw him in. Kiss has been eligible for 8 years, they are still missing though, But Aerosmith got in, they came out a year after Kiss' first Lp, and were half as sucessful. Well any thoughts? ANyone?

MY GOD!!! No Jethro Tull? Did I miss something?...been turning out albums since '68! Still touring and playing decent venues as main attraction while many others in the hall are playing at casinos, if at all. How has this group been overlooked? Same group people who put together the top 100 rock guitar players and left Martin Barre off the list. At least the great Joan Jett made it on Rolling Stones top 100 guitarists (this is, of course, sarcasm)
