Imagine 25 Years without John Lennon:
It was 25 years ago today that John Lennon was shot and killed. It was one of those days that will live forever (at least for many of us) and the days that followed were pretty surrealistic for anyone whose life was influenced by the music of John Lennon and The Beatles.
25 Years later quite a number of news services from around the world have recognized today’s anniversary with tributes and stories about John including:
Boston Globe: Musicians recall the Lennon they knew
San Francisco Chronicle: John Lennon's strange sort of immortality, now 25 years long
The Mercury News: ODE TO LENNON
Reuters: Liverpool, NYC remember Lennon
New York Daily News: Imagining legacy of enigmatic Beatle star
USA Today: Looking back at Lennon
The Times: Beatles 'were to come together again'
LA Times: Imagining Lennon
Al Jazeera Tributes to Lennon 25 years on
TVNZ: Tributes flow for Lennon 25 years on
Philly.com: The night John died

Like an earlier commenter, i was pretty young (12-13 something like that, the old memory fails me), but it was a day that sunk in was never forgotten.
Yep, the dream was definately over that day.
Big loss, in many ways..
Mind you, he's had all these years of peace now, wherever his soul ended up, as his critics and those who saw reason to make him look bad, can't touch him..., and even then, the memory and reflective opinion of him, his solo and beatles career by fans, will keep part of him alive for many many decades yet :D

I don't actually remember details what I was doing when Jouhn was shot dead. I was only 12 by then... And news came to my country like day after, when we were at school. One of my class mates brought it to school, as he was more in music than the res of us. After that I became a hippie... Big word, first more like Beatles fan and than maybe, and at present I can't tell who I am.

Terrific idea, Jeff, remembering John Lennon on your blog today. I will never forget where I was when I got the news (today, oh boy). I was watching Monday Night Football in my parent's living room in Plano, Texas. The New England Patriots were playing the Miami Dolphins and the game was just about to go into Overtime when Howard Cosell made the announcement that John (he will always be John...just John) had been shot and killed. When the ice left my blood I went to tell my mother -- a true screaming-teen Beatles fan in the day -- what I had learned. To paraphrase John, "The dream was over".
It'd be cool if other readers of the Jeff Pulver Blog shared their "What I was doing when..." stories here today.
