Update on Our Challenge of the FCC's Order Imposing CALEA Obligations on VoIP
For those of you following our challenge of the FCC’s Order extending the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) and lawful intercept obligations on VoIP services, our joint brief was filed with the DC Circuit last night, and can be found at:
http://www.cdt.org/digi_tele/20060126ace-opening-brief.pdf
DOJ's and the FCC's briefs are due on 2/27, Verizon's brief in support of the government is due on 3/2, and our reply brief is due on 2/13. No date has been set for oral argument.
I will keep you posted as things develop.
