The Commitments visit pulver.com
Yesterday afternoon,The Commitments, for sixteen years known as the “Hardest Working Band in the World”, currently on tour around the United States and Canada, dropped by the pulver.com offices in Melville, New York. The Commitments joined us for a special Winter edition of our “Karaoke Fridays” which included a pizza lunch and an hour or so of Karaoke.
The Commitments also joined us for a live, in-studio interview on pulverradio where they spoke about one of the many times they met with Wilson Pickett. During the interview, we learned that The Commitments will be back in the NYC area on March 20th, playing at BB King’s in NYC at a tribute concert in the memory of the late, great, Wilson Pickett.
While the Friday before leaving for VON is a “crazy busy day” for us, when I heard the Commitments were playing a gig on Long Island on the night of March 10th, I couldn’t help but reach out to my friend, Kenneth McCluskey and invite the Commitments to visit with us.
I’ve been a fan of The Commitments ever since I saw the movie, “The Commitments” back in 1991. The Commitments have been friends of pulver.com since they played our party at VON Europe 2000 in Stockholm. This was followed by a 2001 USA tour that we produced that included stops in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and at Spring 2001 VON in Phoenix. In 2004, The Commitments played VON Europe 2004 in London.
It was great to spend the time catching up with their band, and I look forward to seeing them again in the near future.
