Stuart Henshall: Why was Skype Missing from Spring 2006 VON?
Skype Journal: Where is Skype? - In Stealth?
Stuart raises some good questions in his blog post about Spring 2006 VON and Skype.
Just for the record, early in the planning of Spring 2006 VON, we reached out to the eBay executive team and extended an invitation to Meg Whitman to speak. While in the end Meg didn't end up speaking, my hope is that she will be joining us at future VON events.
In a couple of weeks, Niklas will be speaking (in person) at Voice on the Net Canada and again at Spring 2006 VON Europe in May. I am looking forward to catching up with Niklas in both Toronto and Stockholm and hearing first hand about the future directions of Skype.

According to Skype spokespeople I checked in with not only did Meg turn down the offer so did the GM for the USA, Henry Gomez due to conflicts with their schedules.
I agree with you that it would have been great to have had someone of that level at the event.
