Wilson Pickett Honored at B.B. King in NYC:

Last night there was a special tribute to Wilson Pickett that took place at B.B. King's in New York City.

I first learned of the tribute when The Commitments visited the pulver.com office the Friday before Spring 2006 VON.

The family of the late great Wilson Pickett attended the tribute, together with a number of artists whose lives were affected by the music of Wilson Pickett. After The Commitments opened the show, I was invited by my friend Kenneth McCuskey to go backstage and spend time with the band. While I was backstage, in addition to catching up with the members of The Commitments, I had a chance to meet: Ben E. King, Southside Johnny and Jimmy Vivino and I enjoyed a special performance of Mustang Sally by Wilson Pickett's longtime backing band The Midnight Movers who were simply amazing.
