TheMarker's 2006 COM.VENTION:
After spending the weekend at Kinnernet 2006, the Kinnernet community was invited to be a part of TheMarker's Com.Vention, a high-energy high-tech conference that attracted 3,000+ people and focused on the Internet. Yesterday morning I had a chance to share a high-level summary of my talk from Spring 2006 VON, "The Eve of Disruption" and then join an opening plenary panel: "Breaking the Value Chain: How Traditional Businesses Try to Get a Larger Share of the Internet Success" that included: Yossi Vardi, Tom Evslin (Hackoff.com), Caroline Little (Washington Post Newsweek Interactive), Gary Shainberg (BT), Simon Levene (Yahoo!) and Jonathan Weber (NewWest.net).
During the day yesterday I had more than a dozen short meetings with start-ups playing in various aspects of the IP Communications space, which included a number of companies all focused on the new "TV/IP" space. Israeli technology played a major role in the commercialization of the voice over IP industry and it looks like the Israeli High Tech Industry will play a major role in the upcoming video over IP space.
I'm already looking forward to my next trip to Israel which will be the Week of June 18th when I will be in Tel Aviv for VON Israel and to hopefully speak at the Israeli Venture Association (IVA) conference.
