O.K. So now the Mets are now JUST 8-2…

Ever since the Mets started their recent winning streak after their 1-1 start, when they went 7-0, I hesitated from talking about the Mets and wasn’t about to blog about them. And not that I’m superstitious or anything but it wasn’t until yesterday morning that I pointed out how well the Mets were doing to a few friends in Florida and of course the Mets turn around and lose a game.

But now that they lost a game I figured it was safe to acknowledge the GREAT start of the 2006 edition of the New York Mets and the fact that at this moment, they hold the BEST record in Major League Baseball. Even though these are April Baseball stats, these are the kind of moments that Mets fans cherish during a season. Met fans can only hope that the record of the Mets today is a reflection of well they are going to play the rest of their 152 games.

Recently while visiting the Met’s website I saw Major League Baseball’s (MLB.TV) pitch (every pun intended) for their US$79.95 service:

- The BEST QUALITY of streaming baseball ever
- LOWEST price of any out-of-market baseball package
I was finally sold on the MLB.TV service because of their feature: MLB.TV Mosaic which offers the ability to watch six games all at the same time. O.K., so I’m not so sure about watching six games at the same time, but I liked the idea of being able to watch the Mets, Red Sox and Cubs games all at the same time.

So far the quality of the MLB.TV games that I’ve seen delivered over the broadband of the hotel that I’m staying at has been quite watchable. This is just another example of how TV on the Net is everyday becoming more of a replacement/substitute to watching the same programming on broadcast TV or Cable (except there are no commercials at the moment on MLB.TV, just commercial breaks). For myself. I’m looking forward to being able to watch Mets games while I’m on the road, and in the case of games that end up being subject to MLB.TV’s silly “blackout” rules, I still have my SlingBox available to watch those games.
