Red Sox beat the Mets 9-4 at Fenway Park

Visiting Fenway Park brought back memories of my visit last year to Wrigley Field. Once again, the weather was perfect and it was a great night for baseball. Last night the Red Sox decided to honor the Red Sox team of 1986 and it was great to see so many stars of 1986 appear on the field prior to the commencement of the game.

While watching the game, it felt as if the Mets starting pitcher should have been taken out of the game before the end of the second inning. Despite this, the Mets were in the game for the most part and they could have taken the lead numerous times.

One lesson that I learned was that it rooting for the Mets at Fenway Park could at times rile up the Red Sox fans which I guess was to be expected. What I was amazed about was the way the Red Sox fans greeted the return of Pedro with open arms and a loud and warm applause.

All in, while it wasn’t a great night for the Mets, it was a great night for baseball.

Yes, I would have to agree that last night I tried to capture "atmosphere" of what it was like to be at Fenway Park moreso than any of the elements of the game. :)

Hey Jeff, thanks for the great baseball pics. The on-field action shots are always cool, but it is the "atmosphere" snaps that really make these photo arrays for me...I can almost smell the red-hots. Shame the Mets couldn't win it, but...well, you can always take consolation in France's 3-1 victory over Spain last night...! ;-)

[Not even gonna bother with a "Go Cubs! because this year it is just plain embarrassing. Were we still in the same division as the Mets we'd be 19 games out right now. Sheesh]
