My Summer of "Video on the Net"

Ever since the Wall Street Journal ran a profile of me back in mid-June, for me this has been the summer of "Video on the Net." While it turns out being profiled by the Journal is a great way to get reconnected with friends from high school, the Journal article has been my passport to meet with quite a number of people and companies who have been leveraging the broadband internet within the Media and Entertainment space.

This phenomena, coupled with our announcement a couple of weeks ago of our upcoming "Video on the Net" event has put me in contact with some amazing people from around the world who are all helping to define the emerging "Video on the Net" industry. It has been a long time since I've been around so many start-ups engaged in defining an emerging industry sector.

While the summer of 2006 might be the summer that the masses discovered YouTube or only heard about Amanda Congdon after she left Rocketboom, there is no doubt the "Video on the Net" represents a new emerging opportunity for entrepreneurs, investors and media companies.

Since announcing our Video on the Net conference schedule, I've managed to fill in the few holes we had and the waiting list of people who have expressed an interested in speaking at our event is almost more impressive than the list of people who have been confirmed to speak there.

If you are interested in the effects of the broadband Internet on the future of TV, Film and Broadcasting, please make it a point to join us in Boston September 12-14. And if you know of startups operating in this space, please give them my name and drop me a line at: jeffp@pulver.com.
