"Movies on the Net" In HD Action using Vividas:
I've spent time this summer meeting with a number of people who claim to have "the best platform" for TV and/or Movies on the Net.
For a demonstration of where I feel the bar has moved during the past few months for delivering High Defination (HD) streaming video, please take a couple of minutes and experience the Sony Pictures HD Trailer for "Ghost Rider." Click here and then click on "Watch the Trailer in High Defination" (found at the bottom middle of the page.)
Please give this demo a try when using a direct broadband connection (not Wi-Fi or EvDO) and drop me a line and please share your feedback.

My Rogers 3.0 MBPS cable connectiopn connected in under 15 seconds for a rock solid, stable, nice color rendition, smooth, non artifact, non jaggies stream.
Awesome.
I just checked the On2 website and viola...it's their codec being used by Vividas.
I have been tracking On2 since the early 90's. Get their free truecast player here, i.e.
http://www.on2.com/downloads/truecast-player/
...then check out their awesome (...over 3 years old!) live "Starksy and HUtch" 700 kps stream at
http://www.on2.com/video_samples/vp7-samples/
It's still awesome and it now seems that their technology just leapt ahead again.
That always happens when you use the best math!

yeah, but the problem with the apple ones are they take forever to load and then buffer, and buffer. at least with the vividas one it plays straight away without buffering, and you don;t have to download quicktime or any player

OK, I tried it out...to me there are noticeable encoding artifacts, pixilation, etc., and it was a touch jumpy. This was particularly noticeable when comparing it to even the lowest 480p HD trailer available from http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/ghostrider/hd/. [This was when watching via a FiOS connection.] Color me not impressed when compared to the alternative.
