My video "Commercial" for Vividas and everything VON:

I have spent time this summer meeting with a number of people who claim to have "the best platform" for TV and/or Movies on the Net. The number of companies playing in this space has been growing each week.

For a demonstration of where I feel the bar has moved during the past few months for delivering High Definition (HD) streaming video and audio on the net, please take a couple of minutes and watch (select Vividas Promo High Def) my "Vividas promo." (First time users of Vividas may need to allow an ActiveX control to run in your browser.)

Assuming you have a dedicated broadband connection, you may have to remind yourself that you are watching and hearing streaming video that is giving a TV like experience.

While it turns out that I didn't say their name correctly in the entire segment, I believe the Vividas technology platform speaks for itself.

(Click here to watch the referenced High-Def Ghost Rider Trailer - found in the bottom middle of the page.)

As I spent time this summer exploring the state of video technology platforms, I decided to add a Technology Showcase segment to the Video on the Net conference that will be taking place on Wednesday, September 13th during our scheduled afternoon break. Access to our Technology Showcase will only be open to the conference delegates attending Video on the Net and the VON conference. This means that a "VON Expo" pass won't get you into the closed room.

If you are interested in the world of "disruptive broadcasting" and the effects of the broadband internet on the future of TV, Film and Broadcasting, please consider to Register today and join us September 12-14th in Boston at Video on the Net.

If that can be called HD IP Video, then someone has redefined the concept. No doubt it is very good for IP video, but viewed on a true HD screen, the blocking was pretty bad, even for a talking head, let alone a high motion feature like an NFL football game.

IP video (different from IPTV) is good enough for mobile applications (when there are no other options), a good compromise. Same tipy of compromise on quality we got used to with cell phones in liew of convenience (having a phone almost anywhare). People would accept such image quality compromise if they can watch their favorite show of game while communting on public transportation (e.g. train).

But, when people start to throw the IPTV name, then I start to think about a full replacement of my current HDTV service I get from my local MSO and that, I think, still have ways to go. Perhaps it would only be good for VOD.

The Vividas technology is truly amazing... well worth a look.
