Andy Abramson: Where the Girls Aren't
The next VON event is only eight days from now and Andy is once again musing about the "Where the Girls Aren't."
Andy, I just checked our databases and you are correct...there once again will be more men than woman attending both the Fall 2006 VON Conference and Video on the Net. However, you can expect to see a more equal balance of both men and woman on the Fall VON Expo show floor and at the various social events taking place in and around Fall VON.

My reference to the exhibit floor was the percentage of “woman” attending as "exhibit only" guests as compared to "men" on a percentage basis as compared to the percentage of woman attending our conference vs. the number of men attending our conference. I appreciate why you might have thought I was referring to "show babes" but that just isn't the case.
Andy, I'm not sure who these "mythical" woman you and your friends are referring to. It isn't like we have a bias AGAINST having woman speak at our various worldwide conferences. On the delegate side, we generally see a bigger turnout of woman as delegates in our European events. And if you are aware of outstanding woman of vision who are involved in the IP Communications industry, please feel free to drop me a line and let me know who you would like to see speak at our 2007 events.

Jeff,
It's not booth babes on the show floor that people like Chritine, Ken Camp and I are all musing about.
It's the striking lack of women on panels. There are many talented females in management positions, and they don't seem to get the nod at event.
Andy
