Updates to Network 2.0 / Guide to Watching ‘Internet Only TV Shows’

Since the announcement and launch of our "Network 2.0" website, the team of people supporting this effort have acted on the feedback they received and continue to add features (and I have continued to add shows) to our evolving on-line guide for watching “Internet Only TV Shows.

Special thanks to Jeff Jarvis for the inspiration for making Network 2.0 a reality.

Since producing the pilot episode for our new pulver.tv show “Focus”, we have redefined the requirements for what qualifies as an “Internet Only TV Show” and have removed a few of the more poplar shows from our original list of shows. (In fact 2 of the 5 shows profiled are no longer in our list of shows.) To be considered for Network 2.0, we are looking for new original content created for viewing on the Net that has a working RSS feed associated with it. (The list of shows on Network 2.0 would be 25% larger if every show we qualified had a working feed.)

Now while Network 2.0 will continue to be a “work-in-progress”, we have recently added the ability for visitors to sort our channel guide based on the category/genre of the show. (Yes, I know we needed it but we had to get some other work done before this could happen.) We are also tracking the popularity of the shows based on visitor click-thrus (very unscientific but we needed to start someplace) and we are close to automating our weekly top 35 by integrating with Alexa.)

We have also made it easier for visitors to submit new channel suggestions (either as RSS or as a web link) for us to review and add in the future to Network 2.0. Or people can continue to send email to me.

For RSS fans, we now provide both the individual RSS for each of the shows as well as RSS for the entire collection and the associated OPML.

Recent Adds to Network 2.0 include:

- 5 Minute Comedy: "5 Minute Segments about the Digital Rebels"
- AmandaAcrossAmercia - "Travel with Amanda on her 5 week journey across America"
- Top11 - "Top 11 Video Countdown"
- ScobleShow - "Video about geeks, technology and developers"
- The McVlog - "Profiles, interviews and a journey in cultural curiosity by Daniel McVicar"

Jeff, In meevee.com we have a tab (internet TV Channels) of what we feel are the best Internet TV channels world wide. Some are links, others play in the MeeVee Player. Early prototype of what internet TV guidance.

You should add TomGreen.com to the Network 2.0 list. Tom does a nightly internet only talk show live from his house through tomgreen.com and maniatv.com. He even gave out his home number to take live calls.
