Tom Glavin stays with the Mets to get to Win Number 300

Tom Glavin was one of the reasons the Mets made it to game seven of the 2006 NLCS, but he wasn’t “THE” reason. However, it is great to see him stay one more year while he on a personal quest of 300 wins. This said, I have to wonder if it is really in the Mets long term interests to invest another year in Tom Glavin when they could be investing some time, effort and energy in finding the next Tom Glavin.

If the Mets want to make past the 2007 NLCS, they will need to not only out pitch their opponents but also out hit them. Pitching will keep the Mets in a game, but without the consistent timely hits when needed, they will never become Champions.

Nice that Glavin is returning to the Mets, though it will be at least 2008 before he helps them to a championship as '07 will be the year of Piniella's Cubs! You read it here first...
