Stickam: The Video Social Network

"Pimp your Web Page with Video Chat"

"Broadcast Yourself LIVE!"

These are the messages you first see when you visit Stickam.

Stickam is part: YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, Craigslist and Cu-SeeMe. (and has pieces from other familar applications).

Remember Cu-SeeMe? Now imagine if Cu-SeeMe was re-released for the Internet Generation.

It is pretty amazing how good video over the Internet has become these days.

Visit Stickam and share your impressions with this new platform.

2007 is the year Video over the Net will be taken for granted.

Stickam is…pretty incredible.

(special thanks to Christopher Penn for the heads up on this and to Steve Garfield on the edit.)

It is just amazing how quickly video on the net is moving. Imagine a realtor with an out of state client taking the client on a live home tour. I feel like it is 1927 again...when Harry Warner of Warner Brothers Studios said "Who the hell wants to hear actors talk?". We are in exciting times.

A mutual friend said, "So.... this is web chat. I don't get it."

Here's the value for me as a marketer. I now have my choice of channels to talk to potential customers (college students or soon-to-be college students) face to face, with their permission, about stuff we're doing as a company. Focus groups are fine and good, and have their place, but there's something to be said for hopping on Stickam, grabbing a couple of college students, turning on the iSight camera, and saying, "Hey, what do you think about this?"

Not to mention, if you are a video show, video podcast, etc. you basically have an unlimited supply of new material.
