Looks like 2008 IS the Year of the YouTube Presidency
Humm...looks like 2008 really will be the year of the "YouTube Presidency." And if not the YouTube Presidency, than at least the "Internet TV Presidency."
First John Edwards and now Senator Barack Obama announces his intentions using the Internet.
With Senator Obama's announcement yesterday, I was once again thinking about the questions a DC policy reporter asked me right after John Edwards made his announcement.
And to be fair with "equal access", I'm sharing Senator Obama's announcement as seen on Brightcove instead of just showcasing the same statement from YouTube.

OK, well, the production values of this one are far better than the living-room approach in Hilary's announcement. Focus on the Senator was far better and there was more of a feeling of being present with him (and of his being present).
Also, I was engaged with Senator Obama and his pointing at how it all depends on us to alter the face of politics. Hilary didn't invite my attention to anything the way Obama did.
So, live and learn. I want to see both Hilary and Obama (funny, first-name for one, last-name for the other) in settings with people now. I think we will get to know a lot of these three Democratic Party contenders: Edwards, Obama, and Clinton (in order of announcement).

Just talked to Jeremy Allaire from Brightcove and he says:
"There were over 140k views of the video yesterday. That will update on our site today..."
Amazing.
This is big news.
John Edwards announcement video on YouTube now has 103,524 views since December 27th.

Barack Obama's video on Brightcove has over 140K views since yesterday.
Has Brightcove dethroned the king with this video? I'll be watching developments closely.

You are giving 'equal access' to Brightcove, but that reduces the number of views on YouTube.
This is important for gaining visibility on the YouTube site.
I'm tracking the number of times the announcement is being watched.
Over on his Brightcove Channel the number of views hasn't been updated yet.

20,616 views right now on YouTube.
I'm also keeping track of political videoblogging over at politicalvideoblogging.com.
