Today’s Question of the Day: At Work or at Home..What are you thinking?
Today’s Question of the Day comes from my friend Dore who asks: “When you are at work how much time do you spend thinking about things going on at home and when you are at home, how much time do you spend thinking about things going on at work?”
(If you have a suggestion for a question of the day, please drop me a line.)

A guy is walking past a big wooden fence at the insane asylum and he hears all the residents inside chanting, Thirteen! Thirteen! Thirteen!
Quite curious about this, he finds a hole in the fence, and looks in. Someone inside pokes him in the eye.
Then everyone inside the asylum starts chanting, Fourteen! Fourteen! Fourteen!

For me the distinction between work and home is always blurred. I work from home, and have my own business - how can I divide between the two? when i am blogging about something that i am also working on, is it work time or home time? Another angle of that is being preoccupied with work/career/business related topics while watching a movie or having fun with friends. When it is my business, or I am trying to initiate a major activity (such as my involved with IMTC), it is always there, in the back of my mind. Having said that, a lot of times I also do home related assigments in "work hours". So, I think this question is relevant mainly for the guys who are employed by others and leave their work at 1800, and not for the entrepreneurs at heart - as they are always working, one way or another... The difference is that they just love it - so they don't see it as work :)

Because I work 80-90% of the time at home it is very hard for me to give a substantive answer to today's Question du Jour. I will say, though, that when I travel for work I do often find myself thinking about what I am missing at home...peril of the trade, I suppose.

Regarding segregation of work vs home, yes, I agree. About ten years ago I realized I needed to separate my work life from my home life and this is what prompted me to eventually establish the pulver.com offices in Melville, NY and not work out of my home.

hmmmm. First off your question is based on the assumption that you have some form of segregation of work vs home to begin with.
Personally, I don't treat my time awake as anything other than one period that has many things I need to get done during that period of time. So for me, my "work" activities are comingled with my personal activities throughout the day. So in effect I really never consider myself "at work". Im just wherever I need to be to get done whatever gets done at that point in time.
