Mets Finally Win 2 in a Row…Again.
When I left the Mets at the end of May, they were dominating the National League East and had a 4 game lead on the Atlanta Braves. I am not sure what happened to the Mets during June but they seemed to have forgotten how to play winning baseball. Not that we Mets fans expect the Mets to win every game, but given where they were on May 31st, I was surprised to see them take until June 23rd to win their 40th game.
But luckily for the Mets, the rest of the National League East also had a hard time winning games in June and so despite the Mets poor playing, they are still in first place. Today the Mets have a 3 game lead on the Phillies and a 3 ˝ game lead on the Braves.
And according to Ken Roberts over at Sports Club Stats, the Mets currently have a 52.4 percent chance in making the playoffs.
So when the Mets win two games in a row for the first time in 22 games, it is a time for Mets fans to take notice. I can only hope that the Mets continue their winning ways and sweep the A’s at Shea today and take their positive momentum into their series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Let’s Go Mets!!!
