Friendsourcing: A Great Way to Find a Needed Resource

A few months ago Chris Brogan introduced the term Friendsourcing to me and yesterday I finally had a chance to FriendSource myself.

As it turns out, I am in the market to find a "GREAT Web Designer" to help me transform the look and feel of a couple of my personal websites and bring them to the next level. The location of where the person is didn't matter to me.

So yesterday morning I posted my need for a "GREAT Web Designer" on twitter and I also had this reflected in my status on Facebook. Since then, more than 20 recommendations have been made (so far) and I will now be spending my time following up on each of these recommendations.

Friendsourcing is a GREAT way to find a needed resource. I highly recommend it.

I needed to track down a desktop sharing application for my boss--fast. I put out a post to my geek friends on Twitter and within 5 minutes I had suggestions from two of them.

I am teaching a course and needed some suggestions about web site usability--I have a usability expert on my Twitter list that gave me the URL of a great site.

I just have 125 friends on my Twitter list but I am finding the ripple effect from Twitter connecting all sorts of people to be amazing.

P.S. If I ever need anything broadcast live from my car I know who to call for that too!
