GarageGeeks Challenge: Crack the iPhone

Seems I am not alone in NOT purchasing an iPhone on Friday.

I wonder if my friends at the Garage Geeks would be up to the challenge for discovering a "theoretical way" to "politely" unlock the current USA edition of the iPhone so that others could use the device with their mobile carrier of choice.

Now that would be a reason I would purchase one.

lol, watch this space and wait 3-4 months.

I'm sure like with the iPod releases there will be a rapid succession of new models for the iPhone and a 3g quad gsm unit is already in trial production somewhere..... the question then really becomes whats the advantage of the Apple over say my HTC Hermes.

Until that day the WM5 unit is still a better phone in about 8 out of 10 feature/function capabilities.

I could be up for a "polite" unlocking as well...provided the geeks could also figure out how to upgrade the darn thing to 3G. ;-)
