On Entrepreneurship: How to be more effective in your BizDev Outreach
During the course of any given week, as an Entrepreneur, there are times when you may reach out to someone for some help in your business development efforts.
When someone asks me for such help, these are the questions that I try to get answered before making any introductions.
- Are you looking for partner suggestions or introductions?
- Who would you say is your main rival / competitor?
- Of all the various [your company] offerings which is your strongest and which is your weakest?
- Who do you want to partner with and why?
- What do you look for in a partner?
Friends/Clients who are able to answer these questions when asking me for my help will get a much more “bang for their buck” than the people who just blindly ask for access to an existing relationship.

Dear Jeff Pulver
I am looking for a mentor and you are at the top of my list. I have done some research and you fit all the things that I admire and looking for in a mentor from business since too your choice of music. I would like to give you a little history about myself and tell you the direction I am headed. I am a 26 year old from Louisiana. At the Age of 17 I entered into the Army I served 3 years and got out and went to work for AT&T. While working for AT&T I was employee of the month 3 times. Because of the tragic that happen on September 11, 2001 I felt my country needed me so I left AT&T and the nice paycheck I earned and immediately went back into the Army. While serving this second term of service I have fought in two wars. I have very successful career in the Army I have only served in leadership positions my entire career. I was selected to be a Green Bert and serve with the elite Special Forces. I have been given numerous awards and medals for my service. I spent 7 years of my career overseas. This has allowed me to learn how to speak Korean, German, Arabic and key phrases of 12 other languages. I am a husband to a Beautiful wife and six wonderful Children who I value more that anything in this world.
That is a little history now this is the direction I am headed in. I am starting my own VOIP Company while still serving out my two remaining years of my contract with the Army. My company will be up and running in a week. I have started this company straight out of pocket. It has been a goal of mine for three years. My goal with this company is to make if to make it profitable because I want to be a philanthropist be because I believe in helping others. I do not set goal that I do not intend on achieving. Sir I know that you are a busy person and I will appreciate any time that you might have to talk to me and give me some in site on running my company. I can possibly share some of the new Ideas that I have for VoIP with you. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
