Reflections on pulverTV’s Broadcast LIVE from PodCamp Boston 2
Yesterday, room 208 in the Boston Convention Center was transformed into the set for a LIVE edition of pulverTV. We were able to bring together a live studio audience, an engaged worldwide Internet TV audience and a revolving set of hosts who put time behind our desk and guests who sat in our chairs. The overall concept was to provide a platform for friends attending PodCamp Boston 2 to watch, to interact with, to entertain, and to be used to interview other friends with.
What happened along the way was that we reached a new milestone in the short history of personal broadband broadcast platforms when for more than a moment, 389 people were watching our show at the same time. During our 2 ½ hour broadcast, it was great to see: David Kowarsky, Jonny Goldstein, Steve Garfield and Nik “Loudmouth Man” Butler sitting in the host’s seat interviewing people. And our “guests” included people ranging from Casey McKinnon and Rudy Jahchan from Galacticast to the GarageGeeks: Yuval Tal, Tal Chalozin, Ohad Eder-Pressman to Kathryn Jones, Phil Campbell, Chef Mark from the Culinary Media Network to Andy Lipson.
The overall thought was to create a set in the style of “The Tonight Show.” And what we ended up with were quite a few magical moments (both on and off camera) which I won’t soon forget. Being that many of the people who are friends of pulverTV were at times sitting in our audience, I did not expect to have that many people watching our show live on the Internet. But during the course of our broadcast our viewers started to bump up, first from zero to 70, then to 135 and then later to the 300-400 range, peaking at 389 simultaneous viewers which set a new BlogTV record.
And our production was a total collaborative team effort. Under the leadership of Andy Lipson with the help of David Kowarsky, we were able to in effect move the pulverTV / New York studio into the Boston Convention Center. We shot live using two Sony Z1U cameras and a couple of volunteer camera people. Once again our Tricaster helped increase the production quality of the look and feel of the broadcast. And behind the scenes it was nice to have friends like Peggy Miles communicating with our guests in our chat room.
Thanks for being part of our show yesterday. I’m looking forward to having some of these guests visit with us at our studio back in New York and for the opportunity to broadcast live again at a future PodCamp.

My best moment was David K. crawling behind the host and guest chairs during the broadcast. He looked like he was looking for a contact lens. Very funny. I posted my PodCamp experience at http://www.phivetacos.blogspot.com.

It was a pleasure to be part of this as a guest host. Definitely like to do more however and wherever we can make it happen.
Big ups to my guests, Bre Pettis, Lux Nightmare, and Kathryn V. Jones.

Thanks for the opportunity Jeff. That was a TRUE podcamp moment.
Everyone getting together to put on a show.
"Hey, want to host?"
"Want to be a guest?"
"Who out in the audience wants to be a guest?"
"Who out in the audience wants to be a host?"
I really loved every moment of this.
One of the best moments of Podcamp!

Yesterday's show was great. Seeing the passion and excitement from both "guests" and "hosts" alike was really special.
It made those of us who couldn't be at PodCamp Boston feel like we were part of things.
Great job!
