Facebook: Slowly becoming my (default) platform for email

While I have no plans to ever give up my jeff@pulver.com email, as each week goes by, more and more business messages are being sent to me and replied to on Facebook.

Seems to me Facebook may be well positioned to make a move on Google and Gmail. Things may get real interesting when/if Facebook decides to upgrade their messaging platform and offer a better messaging experience. This could be a real test to see just how sticky Gmail really is.

Being on a platform where I receive messages only from my friends and friends of friends does have its advantages.

You are absolutely correct---but how long before devices are implemented that allow the junk/spam/crap through on the Facebook platform? As soon as a lock cannot be picked, someone figures a way. That said---I think these platforms are all gearing up toward something much bigger and I do believe it will have something to do with a distribution network. Some sort of entertainment that can be niche marketed for specific groups. Here is a show for the 1 million people in this group that we know will watch it. This one is for this 4 million people etc etc----one entity controlling hundreds of millions of opt in clients. Health, entertainment, celebrity and niche markets for musicians to intro new hits (payoff is on a percentage of the download based on the trailer sent to the phones, myspace groupd etc.)--same with movies and TV shows---it will be about the marrying of the network linking to downloads of every imaginable entity. An eMall of downloadables---my two cents---hope to talk soon.

I think that facebook can be awsome, but it can also be really annoying. I hate funwall, and cannot figure out how to get rid of it. I find that it is not as user friendly as it could be.

Actually there are a number of applications which enables people to take their messages out of Facebook.

But what I'm looking for is a revised messaging platform, something that supports IMAP and POP3 and is competitive to GMail.

In my understanding "what happens in Facebook stays in Facebook" - you can not take your message exchanges out of Facebook. If this is true then isn't the possibility of Scobelized a concern? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks.
