Real-Time Social Networking and Breakfast: A Fun Way to Start Any Day
Back in July in Tel Aviv, I hosted the first of a series of “Real-Time Social Networking” events. The premise of this event was to help my Facebook friends in Israel to network with each other. The event was a success and I decided to host more of these events in the future.
And then back in November I thought it would be interesting to try something similar in the Boston area except held in the morning for breakfast. And with the help of Bryan Person, the person who founded the “Social Media Breakfast”, I hosted a “Breakfast with Jeff Pulver (and Friends) in Boston.” I enjoyed catching up with my friends and watching the networking that took place. It was also great working with Bryan, and I look forward to working with Bryan on future events.
At all the events I host, I encourage people to include a “Personal Tag Line” on their name badge and to engage in such things as “real-time social tagging.” I’ve found the use of a “Personal Tag Line” to be a great ice-breaker at almost any networking event.
Back in December I hosted a breakfast in Miami and earlier this month I hosted a breakfast in New York City.
I am now looking forward to hosting a “Breakfast with Jeff Pulver (and Friends)” in Philly on January 31st, in Princeton NJ on February 5th and Washington, D.C. on February 7th. February dates for Miami and NYC will be announced next week. At the moment I am working on confirming dates for future breakfasts in: Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, Denver, Raleigh, Boston, London (UK) and San Jose.

Jeff, exciting to see your plans for breakfasts across America! If the upcoming events in Philly, Princeton, and Washington, D.C. are anything like the breakfast we organized in Boston back in November, your friends are in for a treat.

You are on to something here Jeff - it's good to get back to fact-to-face networking in addition to the easy of online. Clicking 'accept' to make a new friend online is drastically different than the skills needed in person. I'll see you in Princeton!
