Discovering: WhyGoSolo
Ann Bernard was amongst the guests who attended my recent breakfast in Washington, D.C. Ann is the founder and CEO of WhyGoSolo. I recently caught up with Ann and asked her to share the WhyGoSolo story.
According to Ann, "Most social networks are built upon the concept of seeing what other people are doing, announcing what you are doing, but are not built around ensuring you are getting to go out and do the things you love. Being able to bridge from online interaction to actual offline networking and socializing is becoming more important as people are finding great new people online they want to connect with offline.
WhyGoSolo, a company launched on January 5, 2008 is the ideal solution to quickly bridge from online to real world one-on-one or small group interaction around the things you love to do. They offer action oriented methods to interact and connect quickly and conveniently in a variety of ways through their current and future innovative features.
The platform was created to quickly expand a system which already includes a Facebook Application, an upcoming Mobile Platform and many various widgets to make the how, when, and who you connect with to bridge the two worlds convenient, easy and fun. The folks at WhyGoSolo plan on nicely integrating in your online interactions to assist you in making the leap into a fun and active offline life.
They are also positioned to play a key part in becoming an excellent platform for event planners, networking or business groups, social clubs and entertainment venues to leverage on the local level to reach out online in new and creative ways to active participants looking for new things to do."
After learning about WhyGoSolo I decided to explore the site. I believe Ann is solving a problem that many of us face at different times. As more people discover WhyGoSolo, it's ability to serve it's underlying community organically increases.
I invite you to discover WhyGoSolo with me. I think Ann and her team are onto something which could become BIG.
Ann Bernard will be one of my in-studio guests on the next edition of the Jeff Pulver Show when we are LIVE on on Tuesday, February 26th.

Stanley,
Thank you for coming by Stanley. WhyGoSolo is focused on the one-on-one interaction not necessarily groups. And you, as the member, are in charge of setting up your listing so it's not logistically heavy.
We are also planning on really integrating ourselves everywhere to make it easy to connect with the people you interact with online to bridge to an offline connection.
We are in our baby stage...sorta speak. We have yet to really bring the full package out.

I looked at WhyGoSolo today and it has potential but I am having trouble differentiating it from
meetup.com. Any comments?
