Bomb Scare at Bon Jovi Concert in Sunrise, Florida

Last night I was in Sunrise, FL to attend a Bon Jovi concert at the BankAtlantic Center. When I arrived at 7 pm, I expected to go thru the doors and to my seat since the doors were supposed to have opened at 6:30 pm. Instead, I joined the growing group of thousands of others people waiting outside of the BankAtlantic Center.

Turns out that someone had phoned-in a bomb threat to blow up the BankAtlantic Center at 7:57pm with two bombs. This information was not shared with the thousands of people waiting outside the BankAtlantic Center. What made the wait feel longer was the total lack of communication between the event staff at BankAtlantic Center and everyone else. At around 9pm the doors finally did open and it took about 50 minutes to maneuver through the sea of people and to the doors.

Except for the extraordinary delay, the Bon Jovi concert was a lot of fun.

Jeff,

you have had a LOT of cameras over the years I have known you probably beating out Imeldo Marcus on her shoe collection :-)

So how is the new Panasonic TZ5?

BTW - good luck in your new business pursuits. Thanks for helping to shine the spotlight on the VoIP industry over the last decade or so.

Myself and a group of women rode over from Naples in a hotter than hot limo that had barely any a/c, got to the parking lot and of course, found out about the bomb threat. We prayed there wouldn't be a cancellation, drank in the parking lot, peed several times in the bushes (thank goodness for high brush) and finally got in. Daughtry was fabulous and Bon Jovi was, of course, AWESOME! It almost seems that he went on a longer than usual. Never a disappointment! And the chicks in section 133 were fabulous for sharing their seats with those of us who shimmied in from the nosebleeds! God I miss the 80's!

I have seen Bon Jovi in Germany. But the weather was not so fine. :-)

The show was well worth the wait!! I've seen him 15-20 times in NJ and FL. Luckily, we got in pretty quickly so we heard Daughtry's 1st song on the beer run, but really wanted to see more. Daughtry is a great performer! Bon jOvi is the BEST, though!!

I was also there last night...I've been a Bon Jovi fan for the last 20+ years and had been waiting for the show for several months. I was looking forward to seeing Daughtry but by the time I got inside, I had missed his whole set. Bon Jovi put on an amazing show, as usual, but the venue should have waited to start the show until the people were inside.

I was also at the concert. However despite the people in this world that try to overcome our society with fear. I am greatful that Bon Jovi and Daughtry took the time to have the show go on. I do feel that we were "short changed" on the performance for Daughtry. Most of the fans were not even in the building when Daughtry performed. I also feel that because of the delay there was a lack of security in checking bags etc...that put us at a potential risk because patrons were already mad about the delay, therefore security on the side of the building that I was on...was very minimum if any at all. For Bon Jovi and Daughtry...you are a class act. Thanks for sticking around for us.
