Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone who is celebrating Mother's Day today.

I wonder how many Mother's Day phone calls will originate from someone's desktop computer and/or laptop. "More than last year" would be my answer as well, but it would be great if one could properly estimate the numbers and track the growth year after year.

I wonder how many Moms will be receiving messages via social media networks for the first time in 2008.

And I would like to know how many of the communication sessions will include a video element. Specially I'd like to know how many more people are using Video on Skype and/or decided to take advantage of iChat in the US and Canada on May 11, 2008. And while we are at it, I wonder how many people sent a video message to Mom asynchronously using Facebook today.

My 65 year old mother and father are on the road today driving home to Minnesota from New Hampshire after coming out to see their grand sn for the first time in person. They saw him on Skype many times before becasue my brother set them up with it and we use it on a weekly basis. They don't have MySpace or FaceBook, but what need is there for that for them when their primary functions on the net are connecting with family, and we all chat online now, and e-mail.
