A Qik Breakfast with Loudmouthman: June 6th 2008 in London
Special thanks to both Nik “Loudmouthman” Butler (aka Nik Scoble) and Phil Campbell for helping me virtually attend a social media breakfast in London (UK) yesterday morning that I had promoted and hoped to be at. At the breakfast, while Nik was broadcasting live on Qik and doing his best impression of Robert Scoble behind his Nokia N95, I was watching his broadcast and text chatting on Qik and at the same time live on BlogTV and conversing with Phil Campbell and the others who joined our chat.
The experience was surreal for me. Maybe it was because I got up early in my morning to be a part of it and maybe because I was able to leverage what has become “every day technologies” and for a moment feel as if I was standing next to Nik as he interviewed a number of the people who also attended the London breakfast.
The era of personal mobile broadcasting is upon us. “Life Matters.” Being able to share events from the palm of your hand is a significant technology innovation which will have a tremendous impact on the future of broadcasting. Just wait until platforms like Qik become more mainstream and more people understand that at any moment they can share a life moment with a friend next door or across their universe. Amazing times are ahead and I look forward to how this technology platform will continue to morph as more people become personal broadcasters.
