Sometimes the Answer Lies Within

There have been times in my life where I found myself lost in the transition between something I used to do and something I would end up doing. And while in the back of my mind I had some ideas for what I thought I would do next, I lacked the confidence to "Just Do It!", so I reached out to people (friends and relatives) and asked them for their advice.

Turns out I could have saved a lot of time, effort, energy and aggravation if I just had the courage to listen to myself.

One thing I didn’t realize or appreciate at that time was the freedom I was actually experiencing while in this state of transition. The freedom to choose to do whatever it was that I wanted to. The freedom to explore new ideas and opportunities. The freedom of being about to reboot myself and my mind and a part of my life. A rare opportunity to redefine where I wanted to be and what I really wanted to be doing. A freedom that doesn’t happen very often. And a freedom that is mostly only appreciated when it is gone.

The only gatekeeper in this situation was me. I was the one who had to open my mind to let myself explore the possibilities. This is never the time to be conservative. This is a time to look up at the bright blue sky above us and explore the possibilities.

From my own experience I have found in many cases, the questions I ask others for advice about, I already know the answer to. It might be that I do not like hearing the answers since it only re-affirms something I already know. Sometimes it might be something I just don’t want to address. The challenge is to know when to listen to yourself and have the confidence to take action and make it so. There are times where we need to learn to better trust our intuition. Intuition is your real self talking to YOU.

The next time you find yourself in transition make the most it.

This is your life. It is up to YOU to live it.

great post! the signature at the bottom of my email reads "do one thing everyday that scares you" Eleanor Roosevelt.

you are so right. taking the risks are scary, but not taking them should be scarier to us.

Bravo, Jeff. Thanks. Listen to yourself, trust your intuition, and still be open to others, if it is reasonable.

It's kind of a daily test for me. Wake up, realize you're chasing rainbows, panic, remind myself what I'm doing, reaffirm, go forward. Too bad that kind of workout doesn't do the same for your body as your mind, or Jenny Craig would be outta business.

Great post, Thanks.

Jeff,

Great timing :) Needed to read exactly what you wrote today.

Thank you.

what are you psyching yourself up for Jeff? I know this line of thinking and it leads to action!

My guess is you have a daring project, a new direction and you're trying to convince yourself to do it even though it will be a drastic move!

I say do it.

AS Joe Vitale said Doubt Your Doubts.
It feels great to be doing what you were meant to do, even if no one else is on your side.

Thats a little secret people dont tell you, you rarely have a fan club to cheer you on during the change, but afterwards, everyone is so happy you did the right thing!

Sometimes we need to slow down and reflect inward to get those answers, or we'll miss them in the hustle and bustle of life.
