Know when to Talk Straight

One of the hardest things to do is to know when to “talk straight” and deal directly with things as they confront you.

There are times when you owe it to yourself to be as up front about things as possible.

Taking straight up will help everyone involved feel comfortable, especially in uncomfortable times.

Dunno. I typically talk straight to a fault - and that typically makes people feel uncomfortable around me, aside from my closest friends.

In Trinidad and Tobago, there's a colloquialism for it: 'Plain talk, bad manners'. :-)

I had a job where I was constantly chastised for being too blunt, especially about difficult things. I spent quite a while trying to become someone else before I figured out what I needed was a new job in a different corporate culture.

Some people (me at times) live "sideways," never acting, never saying things they think, being stifled, feeling exhausted, always imagining the something they wish they were doing - the straight-forward living.
