A Time to Make Your MOVE

Thinking about doing something is not the same thing as actually doing it.

You will find there is never that "Perfect Time" to make a move that could change your life.

Sometimes you just have to "go for it" and see what happens next.

I've "been there" and done just that a number of times over the years. I've learned from my own experiences about what it feels like when I didn't go for it and regretted it afterwards. Not every move will be a success but sometimes success comes from within. Your own mileage will vary.

Standing idle is not the answer. Not for this.

Instead of living in a world of "would ofs" and "could ofs" there comes a time for all of us to take a deep breath, dig deep down inside and make that MOVE!

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is the future. Your time is NOW. Make today YOUR day. So make your MOVE now.

I had worked for a major software company for 12 years as a principal consultant and regional consulting manager, working for top Fortune 100 companies, delivering millions of dollars worth of software and services. It was sucking my soul dry and I couldn't stand living in airports anymore. So I hired an executive coach to help me transition to starting a record label. Yeah, I knew the record business was tanking, but I thought I could be different. He taught me how to keep an eye open for shortcuts and I found it. I didn't need years of planning a transition. I just quit the job and poof. Two weeks later, I was running my own record label. As you might expect, it didn't go so well in terms of starting a successful business. But it was awesome in terms of learning that I can just take the shortcut and make a move anytime I want. The things holding us back are typically imaginary - and at the least only a toll booth as opposed to a barrier.

I absolutley agree that one should always go for the gold. You want enjoy life to the hilt, and do as many of things that you have wanted to do or dreamed of. Though, at times, as much as you are moving towards your goals, you will find some pretty resistant obstacles. Sometimes, you find that you are forced by circumstances to wait. Don't you agree that, sometimes, it is in the waiting that the real gifts of life present themselves?

Jeff: Perfect timing to see this post. I've been fighting inside a very micromanaged environment for the last two years and this past Tuesday I finally had the guts to confront the GM of my division. I expressed to him (sometimes loudly but very energetic) that this nonsense of controlling every single trivial detail about our operations has to stop and that that's why we have people that get paid to supervise those operations so that we don't have to. After more than 20 months I finally said that it's creating double standards and that we're not moving anywhere. The funny thing is that the door to his office was wide open and I think everybody heard us; next day everybody was smiling at me and saying Good Morning like I was some type of a hero for finally saying something. Thanks for the motivational notion behind your post!
