Are you where YOU want to be?

There are times when you need to stop what it is you are doing and ask yourself the question “Are you where YOU want to be?”

Depending upon your answer, you owe it to yourself to make the first move and get yourself to the place where you really want to be. Sometimes we just don’t know where we are going or how to get there. And sometimes we know where we want to be but don’t make the effort to guide ourselves there.

When you realize you have gone off course, make the effort and get yourself to where you want to be. Get there under your own power and under your own control. Don’t wait for the moment for the wind to find your sail and take you there.

And if you are where you want to be, well, just enjoy the moment. :)

Jeff, what a great post. Even if we know it, it good to be reminded of this. I am happy to say that for the first time in my life, I am where I want to be, even a bit ahead :-)

I'm getting there.

that is a short and good microblog, it would even fit into a microkernel.

A real static instance of any class or anything which does not communicate properly, is like someone being where realistically this persons wants to be.

I am a follower of you on twitter, I have lots of questions, about Java Mono dot net, but I am now on your pulverblog and I am on your list of twitter followers. Yes I want to be there and I have been there hundreds of microseconds.

Untill the Java ClassPath terminates my existence I will remain on twitter.

Great post. I was thinking about this yesterday. It's always beneficial to reflect and then take positive action, IMO.

I was just thinking about this today Jeff - always good to take inventory of our goals and plans. I think in this speedy generation of ours, many people dont take time for themselves to reflect either. That's another important piece of the equation - reflect so you can make good choices on where to move forward.

What I like most about this post Jeff is that it reminds us that we need to take charge, focus and be deliberate about how we live our lives. It's fairly easy to get off track and be pulled along instead of taking action. Perhaps it's because it can be a little exhausting to live so consciously - but what's life for anyway, if we don't make this kind of commitment to ourselves.

It is official, your blog now tops my daily must read blog list. As always, you inspire and motivate...thank you.

I really like this subject and the emphasis on YOU, it forces us to take an unedited look at our lives through only our lens. My short answer to this question is: Yes. I am happily growing on a regular basis in various areas, pushing myself towards my goals. The long answer is another question: what are the areas in which I am lacking that push towards goals that are somewhat unrealized or I don't pay enough attention to? Professional, physically, relationally I have very clear goals and seek to pursue them daily. Spiritually, introspecitively I seem to ingore the things that call out to me daily, asking to be cultivated and pushed in a way similar to the other areas of my life. Something to think over....

Appreciate this blog, great questions that lead to overall personal growth, can't ask for much more. Thanks, Jeff.

I think that in addition to having a place you want to be that you should be happy in the journey that gets you there.

My place to be is as 'a great artist' and while the determination will ultimately be my own, there will be certain things outside of my conscious sphere of influence that will allow me to decide if I have reached that place or not and so it is important to feel like I'm on the right path to that place as much as at that place or not.

I am definitely where I want to be in life right now. It took me a year to get here and now I try to appreciate all the fun moments doing freelance design and illustration. I just wrote a post last night on appreciating the small accomplishments that we achieve everyday so this post is a nice follow up read.

I have to say that I'm not where I want to be right now, but I recognize that this is sort of a plateau for me. I know that it will take me some time to move forward again, but I am not scared by the future, but actually rather excited by it.

AAAND I survived Blogathon :)

Sometimes, it's a task just to determine where you'd rather be instead. Until you nail down a destination, you can't leave.

What a coincidence to read a post which just put what I had in my mind.

What I like about your blog is that you keep it short, precise to the topic. Keep the wonderful work going Jeff.

Wonderful question, well put. My answer today is another question: where can I be of most use to what I consider my Higher Power? On that dimension, I feel mainly right about where I am, but tugged from within and without toward the next right thing. Next right things arrive in two sizes for me: tangible, doable, mainly fun stuff this day and larger shifts in the full arc of my life, discernible only over the long haul. See? You got me thinking first thing in the morning! Thanks, Jeff.
