There are times in your life when YOU need to make yourself remarkable if you want to be remarkable. This isn’t something that just happens to you, without you making an effort. (Remarkable people will understand this.)

If you don’t do what it takes to stand out, you just won’t.

Sometimes the difference between your success and failure is based on how remarkable you can make yourself be.

Surprise yourself!

Why should Top Chef strive to be so much nicer than real life? We're not watching Disney Channel here. Win or lose, the participants are there to learn valuable lessons in a safer environment than the day to day grind. How well they learn those lessons determines how well they do in the pursuit of their craft. Far more important in the long run, if you ask me. It's part of human nature to develop intense opinions about who we like, who we don't. But realistically, the only thing a diner can judge about a chef is the food that shows up on his plate. It may be a sad fact, but we forget two important things: yes, it's all about the food and yes, it's all about the moment. I'm hungry and I'm fickle. What have you got?

It's funny that you wrote this post today. THis morning I got to work and I sat in my car for about ten minutes- trying to figure out three good reasons to get out of the car and go into work. It's not that I hate my job- quite the opposite. I am just a little stressed (OK a lot stressed) about many things. I thought how much easier it would be to just turn around, go home and go back to bed. But then I thought- thats what life is about -facing your challenges head on and overcoming obstacles.
