Happy Birthday Geo!

Just wanted to take a moment and wish my friend Geo Geller a very Happy Birthday.

My friend Geo is an artist, inventor, photographer, documentary film maker and what he likes to describe as a professional “insultant.” According to Geo, "a consultant gets paid and tells you what you want to hear, an insultant doesn’t get paid and tells you the truth.”

Geo is the creator of RandomPlace.com and shares a portion of his photography portfolio over at: viZulPoetry.com. diarRHETORICS.com is where you can find some of Geo’s musings and observations. Geo also volunteers his time at The Living Museum.

I first met Geo in 1995 in New York City at a meeting of the World Wide Web Artist’s Consortium, better known as WWWAC. Since meeting Geo, he has been a positive influence in my life and is one of the people who reminds me to push the limits whenever possible and to always stand up and challenge the status quo. Geo is a regular at many of my events (including my East Coast breakfasts) and one of the people who continues to encourage me produce the Jeff Pulver Show on pulverTV.

Geo is the person who taught me about the concept of making “Good Mistakes” which is a byproduct of our personal discovery process. In life we are never always right, nor are we ALWAYS wrong. But as people we need to be able to create an environment which supports "good mistakes." - Good mistakes sometimes become someone else's very special discoveries.

One of my favorite recorded moments with Geo took place last May when he and I decided to take pulverTV mobile and went live on BlogTV while driving on the Long Island Expressway. Our escapade can be seen here.

Happy Birthday Geo. I hope you have a great day today and a great year ahead.

I like that idea of "good mistakes"...I think many discoveries were actually first thought of as mistakes but someone was able to see the promise they held.

Isn't it unfortunate that there aren't more Geo's in the world, he seems like an awesome person! and Happy birthday to him, hope he has many more years of helping people discover themselves :)
