Introducing: Girls Teach Guys
I enjoy feeling the passion of entrepreneurs who dream about doing their own startup, especially when it is in a area I can understand and/or otherwise relate to. During the past couple of years, during my trips to Israel, I have met with quite a number of entrepreneurs and have made investments in a number of early-early stage startups.
Earlier this year when I was in Tel Aviv and I met the co-founders of Girls Teach Guys, Amir Student and Lee Rivnay, I knew within the first three minutes of hearing their pitch that this was a startup that could grow into something big and an opportunity I wanted to support as an investor. And I am glad to have Girls Teach Guys as part of my active portfolio of Israeli Hi-Tech startups.
Girls Teach Guys was founded by a group of 20 somethings, who realized the benefit of using Internet Video to provide direct and open access to the opposite sex when discussing topics related to: dating, sex, relationships and love. They saw an opportunity to build a community and a video destination site that facilitated communication and knowledge transfer between men and woman about topics that many people thought about but fewer people openly discussed.
Girls Teach Guys is a great example of a community site which is a reflection of the social sculpture of the Internet. The topics covered transcend geography and age and shows that regardless of where we live and what we do, relations between men and woman continue to be a mystery.
Girls Teach Guys is a place people can visit in order to give and receive real, uncensored advice, tips, and "how to’s" from the opposite sex. Visitors to the site can see real people sharing their own experiences and insights in a relaxed and comfortable manner.
I wish this site existed when I was a teenager or a 20 something. My hope is that Girls Teach Guys can help provide guidance to people who may be otherwise confused as to what to do in awkward personal/social situations.
