The Social Media Jungle: Update #1
On November 13th I will be hosting The Social Media Jungle: Leveraging Social Media for YOU (and your business) in Melville, New York.
Since sending out a call for speakers, I have been overwhelmed by the number of people who have come forward as prospective discussion leaders. Over the next few days I will be working on the schedule and I will continue to confirm each of the discussion leaders.
Each of the discussion leaders will be asked to open their session as if they had written a blog post about the topic. The discussion leaders will be given an average of 7 to 10 minutes to make their point(s) and then will be asked to lead the follow on discussion that one could view as live comments to a blog post. And for the next 8 to 15 minutes the discussion leader will be responsible for responding to the feedback and drawing more people into the discussion and then leading the session to a logical conclusion.
When one topic is finished, the next discussion leader will come to the front of the room and will take the lead for their session. I will be asking each of the discussion leaders to respect the time and to help share the space with everyone who was invited to lead a discussion.
While I will try to place everyone who has come forward with a proposed topic, those whom I am not able to place will be invited to attend and join the conversation. Everyone in the room will have the assumed role of discussant and will be responsible to contribute to the conversation.
At the moment there are 47 seats available for those people who would like to attend. Given the limited number of seats, I have decided to make this an invitation only event.
If you would like to attend Social Media Jungle 08, please send your invitation request to me - jeffp@pulver.com and please include with your request the reason why you would like to be a part of the event community.
And if you would like to be one of our event sponsors, just let me know.

Hi Jeff,
I would be interested in attending/speaking the breakfast event. I think I have some good and not so good social media case studies that would be educational for everyone trying to communicate through social media. If you'd like, I'd be glad to send you over a high level view of the case studies. They range from big brands to local brands.

Hi Jeff, i'm interested speaking at this event, I would like to lead a discussion based on a talk i give called "employing your customers for fun and profit" which essentially proposes that companies value networks are increasingly going to be deriving real, tangible value from customers and companies need to focus on how to empower and motivate this kind of participation. Companies like threadless and yelp generate most of their value from their customers and they do so by creating tool and culture that encourage "productive" behavior.
Cheers, Karl
