Matt Dowd: Because finding a job after school is hard: a warning from a recent graduate
I met Matt Dowd a few weeks ago. I was reminded of this when I read his story, Because finding a job after school is hard: a warning from a recent graduate after it was published published in The Crimson White, the student newspaper of the University of Alabama.
I was glad to read that Matt connected with my words from a blog post I wrote earlier this year: My advice to the recent college graduate still looking for a job....
“Build your Business Social Network NOW.
Along the way Find your Life’s Passion.
And then Give yourself a Job.”
(read my blog post for the details.)
As a blogger, I never really know who reads my blog, when someone will read it or what someone is thinking and/or how my ideas may or may not resonate with others. My hope is that other recent college graduates who are still looking for a job will stumble upon my blog and will give these suggestions a try.
If you are a recent college graduate and if you have questions about how to leverage social media for yourself, please feel free to find me on twitter or send me an email and I’d be happy to continue this conversation.
I am interested in learning how recent college graduates have navigated the Social Media Jungle and have leveraged social media in their quest for a job.

Post-Graduation jobs are never easy to find, moreso with many liberal arts majors today. It took me over 6 months to find my job at Jazkarta, and still 6 months more to really get my footing in the working world. The economy today makes it even a bit harder, but there is hope as always. Creativity will always pay off, and social media offers many opportunities for leveling the playing field a bit.
