Up close with President-Elect Obama:

Back on Saturday, February 3rd, 2007, Risa and I attended a brunch in New York City that was attended by then Senator Barack Obama and about 40 other people, including friends who were executives in the Media industry.

I first shared these photos back on February 4, 2007.

This gathering took place prior to his announcement to run for President. During the meeting, President-Elect Obama addressed the questions that were asked of him by the guests and was both open and approachable.

As the meeting was drawing to a close, I had a chance to introduce myself the Senator. For my introduction I said, “My name is Jeff Pulver and amongst the people here, I am best known for starting the company that became Vonage.”

Senator Obama responded: “Vonage? Woo-Hoo. Woo-Hoo-Hoo - Jeff, I always wondered where Woo-Hoo. Woo-Hoo-Hoo came from and then I found out, it was from: Kill Bill.”

At that point I just smiled.

While I was in Tel Aviv this week, on Election night, I reminded myself about this meeting and I smiled once again. :)

Jeff -

I really enjoy reading your Blog. I love the mix of technology, social media and human interest stories. This one surprised me a bit.

Not because of your meeting with soon-to-be President Obama, but because the theme song from the Vonage commercials came from the movie, "Kill Bill". Did you actually chose it from that movie or were your inspired by the original version? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EydXnKrRDW4

I have to confess the original version seems more like you.
