SocComm / The Social Communications Summit - February 10th in NYC
On February 10th 2009 in New York City, I will be producing a new summit, an event I’m calling SocComm - The Social Communications Summit. At SocComm, we will explore the state of “Social Communications”, where things are headed in the future and where the money is today and will be tomorrow.
Since the announcement of SocComm, more than 200 people have pitched me to speak at SocComm.
The topics at SocComm will span across: Media / Internet / Communications / Entertainment, something I call the "MICE" space. SocComm will have a mixture of individual talks, on-stage interviews / conversations and a number of “group chat” sessions.
I am asking each of the selected speakers to address an area within the emerging Social Communications space which they are the most passionate about. My focus is on pulling together passionate people about various related topics with the intention of focusing on the passion and avoiding the situation of having someone directly pitching their company/product/application/service during their talk.
I am in the process of updating the event schedule. The next speaker update will be posted on or before January 11th.
We are living in a time where our phones have become social communication devices.
Presence is quickly becoming the trigger point for communication. I grew up in an era where the dial-tone on my home phone meant something to me. Today and in the future I believe that Presence is the new Dial-tone and that more and more communication sessions will happen because of presence. The evolution of presence has huge implications for a number of industries, including: advertising, media and telecom.
It turns out that Social Communications is a pretty broad term which could mean many things to many people, and I am fine with this. What I hope to explore at my new event are the pieces of Social Communications that mean the most to my friends and their friends and together help define a new industry.
“Early Bird” registration is now open for SocComm. To register, please visit: https://secure.pulver.com/soccomm/register.html. The cost is US$ 495 for the standard Early-Bird registration and US$ 695 for the special VIP Early Bird Registration. VIP Registration includes access to the invitation only dinner on February 9th as well as a special VIP lunch on February 10th.
SocComm 2009 will be taking place February 10th in New York City. I look forward to your involvement.

Jeff - Just checking the prices... the price on the registration site doesn't seem to match the price here... unless I am doing something wrong.
