In Search of a Huckleberry Milk Shake (in Victor, Idaho)

On the afternoon of July 18th I first learned about the great tasting Huckleberry Milkshake that Victor, Idaho was famous for. Having never been in Idaho before I decided to go on a drive from Jackson Hole, Wyoming and find out for myself what the hype was all about.

What I discovered on the road to Victor was a slice of Americana which make the entire trip worthwhile. The Emporium is the spot where someone can still visit a soda fountain. A place where you can purchase an inflatable Moose Head for your mantle and the place which makes a great tasting Huckleberry Milkshake.

And before heading back to Jackson Hole, the trip continued to one more town where I discovered one of the remaining Drive Ins in America, a drive-in theater known as "The Spud." Oh, and before leaving I had to stop by at a local eatery and enjoy Idaho French Fries.

Hi - If you ever get back to Idaho, come a few more miles to Ashton and experience what is the best huckleberry shake at a restored 1920's soda fountain that has all the good ol' fountain drinks and ice crema treats. Victor's shake is good, but customers of Five 11 Main are indicating it is the best. Doesn't hurt that visitors from all over the country are also talking up the pizza, sandwiches and homemade soups. Let mw know when you are coming and we will "treat" you well.

I'm from NYC and found myself traveling throughout Idaho after meeting @ahess247 who was working for The Idaho State Journal. In Blackfoot, we drove past Idaho Potato Museum http://www.potatoexpo.com/ @ahess247 thought I was too sophisticated for it. I'm not! Loved it! Great times in Idaho, Wyoming too! Huckleberry Shake, Jackson Hole, and all. Thanks for the post, love the pic :) @NELLYWAITS

Last October, former President, George W was in town and came to see the place just for a milkshake!
