NOW in London

After the success of the first #140conf in New York City this past June, I made a commitment to produce follow up events. The first was the #140conf event that happened at the end of October in Los Angeles and the second is the event taking place on Tuesday here in London.

In the time leading up to the London conference, I continue to appreciate the systemic effects the worldwide adoption of twitter is having on business.

We are living in the very early stages of the “State of NOW.” Over the next few years the emerging real-time Internet will have a dramatic effect on the way many of us approach business and how we interact on the Internet. We are living at a time where in many ways the world has gone flat, just as Thomas Friedman describes. These are the days where time and distance from something happening no longer keeps you from access to what happened. Access to news and information is becoming democratized as long as you have a connection to the broadband internet.

The State of NOW will provide billions of dollars of opportunity for some people to take advantage of. When access to information becomes democratized, people around the world who have access to the broadband internet have access to the same information at the same moment. What they do with this information is up to them, but the fact that access to information is open to anyone and everyone changes the rules of engage for some businesses.

Looking forward to #140conf London on Tuesday.
