Waking up in Vancouver, WA - Where Dreams Come True
This morning I am in Vancouver, Washington to be a part of today’s #140conf Northwest (#140confNW) event.
#140conf Northwest happened because Cheryl Bledsoe is a dreamer, a do-er, and someone who knows has to transform her dreams into a reality. Cheryl was inspired to bring #140conf Vancouver, Washington after watching the first #140conf take place in NYC back in 2009.
If you would have asked me the week before the first #140conf took place in 2009 if I ever expected to be visiting Vancouver, WA to speak at a future #140conf event, the answer would have been no. In fact back then I had no idea that in 2009 the #140conf events would take me from NYC to: Los Angeles, London and Tel Aviv or that in 2010 I would end up hosting #140conf in 10 cities around the world.
In December 2010 I announced “#140conf LOCAL Events” my attempt to help expand the #140conf experience beyond my own personal ability to travel and produce events. While I continued to create / produce / hoste / curate my own #140conf events, my hope was to qualify groups of people to create a #140conf LOCAL event of their own.
Since making this announcement a number of people applied to host their own local events, including Cheryl Bledsoe. What Cheryl didn’t realize that while helping to make her dream come true by bringing a #140conf event to Vancouver, WA, she was also helping make my dream come true by taking the idea of the #140conf LOCAL events and turning it into a reality.
As a result of Cheryl and a number of other dreamers, the first #140conf LOCAL events are taking place in May, 2011. Back on May 9th, #140conf dreamers Deb Brown @debworks and Nathan Wright created, hosted, curated and produced #140conf Des Moines (#140confDM) was a great event. One which I had hoped to speak at but do to my still recovering from pneumonia I wasn’t able to be at.
Today #140confNW is happening just about an hour from now. On May 24th dreamer Greg Falken is hosting #140conf Central Sierra. Dreamers Mo Krochmal ,Jonathan Ezor and Jeff Namnum (and others) are responsible for #140conf Long Island taking place on May 26th.
There are current plans to bring #140conf LOCAL to Waterloo, Ontario and to the Hudson Valley in New York State. If you are interested in bringing #140conf to your home town, please visit: http://140conf.com/140conf-local.
I thank everyone who is part of the #140conf LOCAL movement and I look forward to seeing the #140conf events continue to grow both across America and around the world and helping my #140conf dreams come true.
